Slim you down dresses

Let's face it—come summertime, it's just too darn hot to try and hide that tummy pooch or those less-than-toned arms under multiple layers of clothing. Instead, why not opt for sexy dresses that strategically disguise your trouble spots? The frocks that follow hide common figure flaws and make the most of your body shape, the way it looks today. It's never been so easy to stay cool while looking so hot!

1-Check out Lane Bryant for a halter maxi-dress that offers a slimming empire waist and flowing skirt that skims over curvier hips and thighs.

3- A curve-skimming knit dress will take pounds off your figure with its surplice V-neckline and an empire waist that combine to create an hourglass effect. Check out Ann Taylor to find a dress like this.

4- A casual-chic sundress complements most body types with its cinched wrap waist and a halter neckline that draws attention to your face. Try finding something like this at JC Penney.

Tips and Trick for beauty in the summer heat!

During the summer months, there is no worse enemy than heat and humidity. You know those hot, sticky days where everything melts and your hair looks like it’s been soaked in water even though you just left the house looking all fresh and perfect? Well I do, and I say there has to be a solution for that! Read on to find out how you can prevent sticky hair and melting makeup.

PREVENT STICKY HAIR IN THE SUMMER

Your hair goes limp in the hot summer months, so avoid this by including a little something extra in your hair routine. Use an aerosol spray on your roots before heading out the door. This will ensure your hair holds up and give it a little volume. You can also use hair powder so you soak up any excess moisture. Another trick you can use is to dab your neck with toner so you eliminate the oil and moisture that builds up around the area. For frizzy hair, make sure you always use a hair serum or any anti-frizz product; they DO work!

MELTING MAKEUP

We all this problem: you put your makeup on in the morning, but by the afternoon, it’s all gone. It’s like a magic trick! Have an oil blotter at your fingertips to absorb the sweat, without ruining your makeup. Use makeup primer instead of lotion on your face, as this will absorb any oil and make sure to add a little extra on trouble spots such as your nose, chin and forehead. Always apply a powder after you put on your foundation. This will ensure that your makeup stays on a little longer all the while sucking up the excess oil. And of course the number one rule is to go easy on the products; keep it light and simple and you should have no problems!

Beauty Aids

Summer is fleeting and prices are rising, which means that this year shoppers need to get more glow for the money by choosing beauty products that not only work well in hot weather but can bridge the gap into fall. Here are nine popular picks that have the power of transition

Patricia Wexler M.D. Intensive 3-in-1 eye cream (lifting, firming and antiwrinkle) has been such a strong seller, the company is releasing a companion 3-in-1 face cream on Sept. 2. Layer them in the winter for extra hydration ($32.50 for the eye cream, $42.50 for the new Day Cream with SPF 30, at bathandbodyworks.com).
Shu Uemura’s new Fleur de Source fragrance has feather-light notes of coriander, papyrus and basil, made to calm the senses in sultry weather. When the temperature drops, layer it with Fleur de Terre, a woodsy scent with rosemary topnotes ($85 each at shuuemura-usa.com).
SweetHoneyDip ChocolateBrownSugah Scrub by Carol’s Daughter is ideal for pre- and post-tan exfoliation ($34 at carlosdaughter.com).

The latest in Chanel’s limited-edition nail varnishes, Gold Fiction, gives a sun-kissed glow to beach-bound toes; after Labor Day, use it on fingernails for extra evening gleam ($30 at Chanel.com).
Malin + Goetz favorites — Peppermint Hair Shampoo ($76), Cilantro Hair Conditioner ($84) and Sage Styling Cream ($156, all at malinandgoetz.com) — now come in 32-ounce bottles, great for outdoor beach showers and big enough to last for months.
Balms Away by The Balm is a light ointment that works as a spot moisturizer and lip balm in the summer. When the heavier eye makeup styles of fall set in, it becomes a makeup remover ($19 at bueaty.com).

The new Wicked/Lovely eye shadow duos by Smashbox put dawn and dusk in a single package. Line eyes with the smoky color and dust the sheer, lighter color all over in the summer; put the dark color on lids and highlight with the lighter color in the fall ($24 each at smashbox.com).
VIP Bronze Expert Sun Glow Perfecting Brush from By Terry goes on the face to enhance a burgeoning tan or touch up a fading one ($48 at eluxary.com)

Dr. Hauschka Intensive Treatment skin sprays are formulated for five skin types; they provide cooling moisture in the heat but are made to help skin get through seasonal changes ($89.95 each at 800-247-9907).
WEAR IT WITH ITALIAN linen scarves by Love Quotes come in an array of colors and on an array of celebrities (like Sienna Miller) — if a star is under 45, she’s probably wearing one. Knot one around your neck, wear it loose or just tuck it into your bag for chilly movie theaters; these scarves should be around all summer and then some.

Trend saving ideas

You already know about clipping coupons and waiting for sales. But there are even more ways to stretch your clothing dollar.

1. Reversable Clothing

Reversible clothing gained popularity with vacationers for its two-outfits-in-one versatility. But you can also use reversible clothing to save money on everyday clothes. Look for everything from swimwear to dresses that have two different sides (often one's a solid, the other's a print) to double the outfit's wearability.

2. Seasonless clothing

One of the biggest money savers is opting for clothing you can wear year-round. Although cut (sleeves, no sleeves) will dictate how many seasons you can wear an item, fabric is your biggest determining factor. Although natural fibers fare best in temperature extremes -- hot or cold -- jersey and other knits work just fine for most seasons.

3. Trading Down:

If you've bought $200+ jeans and designer bags in the past but now can't afford them, don't give up on shopping. You can find great items at a price at mall-based and specialty store chains. For example, if you've been buying labels at a boutique, you may be surprised by how well budget stores interpret current trends for a very low price.

4. Accessories

The right accessories can transform your wardrobe and give you multiple looks, which saves money. Some accessories -- like a perfect bangle bracelet or a distinctive necklace -- can even work with most of your outfits, becoming your signature look and eliminating the need for a closetful of accessories.

5.Stretch Fabrics

The beauty of stretch fabrics? Stretch accommodates your body on fat or skinny days, so you don't have to buy black pants in three sizes. In the past stretch clothes got a bad rap (polyester!) but now the stretch is so subtle and comfy that you're the only one you know you're wearing it.

6.Washable fabrics

Women's dry cleaning costs more than men, and it's a huge drain on your wardrobe budget to send items repeatedly to the dry cleaners. Although some items -- like evening dresses and suits -- require professional dry cleanin

How to dress like a rocker

Step1- Vintage! If you weren't around in the days of Free Love, ask around to relatives/friends that were. They might have some classic concert tees tucked away in a closet. If that option comes up dry, hit up a local vintage shop or music store for tee's from the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin etc
Step2-Scarves and bandannas are great ways to accessorize your rock n roll look. You don't have to wear them on your head either, instead you can wrap around your wrist or use as a belt.
Step3-Sterling Silver. Classic rockstars aren't big on gold and diamonds, but silver hoops or chunky rings can really complete a rockstar look. You can find unique ones at boutique jewelry stores and flea markets.

Most of these items can be purchased at stores like Hot Topic. Which is an alternative clothing and assessory store. You can also locate novelty tees at stores like Spencers and The Buckle as well.

Money Saver

Looking to save money this summer on the newest fashion trends? Dont be afraid to shop the discount racks. One of my favorite places to shop is Banana republics sale rack...this could be difficult if you are easily swayed to the "not on sale" stuff. But if you just stay focused and head to the back of the store you are able to find all sorts of deals. Another place that will save you loads of money when shopping for the newest trends is the Outlet stores near Fremont, IN. They have name brand stores at discount rates. You may also try the Outlet stores near Camp Atterbury, IN.
If you are a frequent online shopper feel free to price match. Check out more then one website and compare prices. Also, alot of websites offer free shipping if you purchase a certain $ amount. Most of the time this is the way to go because you get more bang for your buck and dont have to worry about paying for it to get to you.

Here is a funny story from a coworker of mine

When I first started out in the work world I was a temporary receptionist. One morning I got a call for an interview for a permanent job right after work that day. I didn't think the clothes I had on would cut it for an interview so I went to the mall at lunchtime to buy a nicer blouse. I was doing quite well in the interview but I noticed that the interviewers voice has trailed off. I saw him looking at my chest and thought 'Rude! One of those men who talks to your chest". But anyway, I followed his gaze and, much to my horror, all the buttons had come undone on my blouse! The buttons were too small for the button holes. I smiled and tried not to panic as I did them all up again. I didn't get the job. I kept the blouse too, but got bigger buttons. Moral of the story, make sure your shirt fits properly to avoid such a disaster..and check and double check your buttons.

How about a tunic?

Tunics are all the rage this season and rightly so because they are so versatile. Take Sweet Pea's Banded Bottom tunic or any of Notice's baby-doll tunics and layer them over your favorite Ed Hardy's Skinny Leg Skull Pocket Jean, Ed Hardy's Skinny Leg "Love Kills Slowly" Pocket Jean or Christopher Blue's Twiggy Jean in Armani Denim. Then bring along a Charlotte Tarantola's Fireside Cardigan, Pure's Marcelle Winter Cream City Coat, or, my personal favorite, Pure's Three-Button Wrap for those chilly evenings. Slip on your favorite boots for a great casual yet polished look.

Ah! It's finally time to kick off those winter boots and let your tootsies breathe. Enjoy fun times in the sun--and show off your pretty toes with some strappy summer sandals. From platform wedges to Roman-inspired flats, you'll find the perfect pair to complete your look this season. Be sure to get those toes in tip top shape, here are a few tips: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Be sure to use a salt scrub and go to town. I would recommend trying: Awaken Sea Salt scrub from Arbonne International. Along with their foot cream your feet will be in tip top condition and ready for that perfect pair of platform wedges.

Tribal trends

Check out the new trend!
Spot It: The tribal trend consists of strong, graphic prints (black and white graphics mixed with darker prints is a recognizable element) combined with warm, earthy tones (black, browns, deep reds and oranges) and natural accents (straw, wood). Safari looks usually have a khaki jacket, belted with front pockets.
Wear It: Because the prints are often oversized and strong, they work best on simple shapes (shift dress, tunic) or in soft, draped fabrics (cotton gauze). Natural accents -- a wood armful of bangles or a beaded cuff -- or matte (not shiny) metallics set off the look perfectly.

Designers and retailers are just beginning to explore the idea of creating clothes that are earth friendly - doing everything from using organic cotton or hemp to experimenting with natural dyes. The challenge for them has been to find fabrics that are both high quality and manufactured in a way that causes minimal negative impact on the environment.  If going green is what you are interested in please check out designers like Linda Loudermilk and Davora Lindner.  Also dont be afraid to try some eco friendly cosmetics.  Please check out www.arbonne.com who only uses pure, safe, and beneficial products.

Bra strap dilemma

I hope that everyone is enjoying their memorial day weekend.  I hope to God that yours is going better then mine!  But less talk
fashion! Here is another helpful hint that might help when trying to find the right bra.
One of my pet peeves is a visible bra strap hanging out of a sleeveless top (and, I'm sorry, but clear bra straps don't cut it either.) Bra straps slipping down a shoulder don't look cute or sexy, just sloppy. So I love the idea behind this little plastic disc from Embrace. It's called The bra Strap Solution and it turns a regular bra into a racerback bra. Presto! No straps hanging out. Love it!

Fashion Trends and styles

Well, welcome to my first blog.  In this blog we will discuss fashion trends and styles for the summer season.  Stigmata Fashion design is a local Fort Wayne clothing designer that creates unique alternative looks for the Rocker in you but in this case we are going to discuss fun trends and affordable shopping that will help ease the high gas prices.  Less start out with our first piece of information...
Brights.  Bright colors are in this season.  Everything from wearing a pair of hot pink shoes with a plain outfit to wearing an outfit that is hot pink.  Dont be afraid to put color in your wardrobe.  A little trick I like to do is to tie a bright scarf on my purse before I go out just to give that pop of color (and of course...it usually  matches my shoes)
